Tudor Dixon: We Must Remove Classroom Instruction of Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity for Grades K-3

September 28, 2022

Lansing, Michigan—Republican Gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon yesterday proposed the Age-Appropriate Classroom Instruction Act, which will require school districts to ensure that their schools do not provide classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through third grade or in any manner that is not age or developmentally appropriate.

This proposal is modeled after Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill and will work in conjunction with Dixon’s previously proposed Parents Right to Know Act to ensure parents’ rights and values are respected by our school system and that only age-appropriate information will be taught to children. The Parents Right to Know Act will require school districts to post all curriculum and teaching materials online for parents to easily see.

"The education system is failing too many kids on the basics of teaching how to read, write, and do math," said Tudor Dixon. "More than half of our kids are not reading or doing math at grade level because our schools are focused on the wrong things.

"Parents deserve to know what their kids are learning in school and they especially have a right to know that adults won't talk to their children about radical sex and gender ideology behind their backs. It's just common sense. As a parent, Gretchen Whitmer should agree with me, but she won’t.

"Gretchen Whitmer will not come out and say that she opposes sex and gender theory being taught to our kids. She won't even come out and say that it is wrong and obscene for her attorney general to advocate for putting a drag queen in every classroom.

"She won’t agree to these common-sense measures to curb the radical sex and gender instruction to kids because she stands with insane political activists in her party that are pushing this. If you don’t believe me, just ask her."
